Libraryland Metagame

The Libraryland Metagame is a library-themed version of Local 12's Metagame.

You can download the instructions of how to play a variety of games using a Metagame -themed deck from this set of instructions from Local 12 [pdf], but the instructions on how to play my favourite, Matchmakers is below:

MATCHMAKERS

SETUP: For the 3 player version, each player starts out with a hand of 7 culture cards and 2 opinion cards which will be placed face-up in front of them. For games of more than three, each player is dealt a hand of 4 culture cards and 1 opinion card which will be placed face-up.

PLAY: If your opinion card has a blank, read your card out loud and fill in the blank with your own word or phrase. Then everyone puts ALL of their culture cards face-down next to the opinion cards of OTHER players to make good matches. You don't have to add cards to each opinion card and you can play multiple cards in front of the same player. There are no turns. Everyone does this at the same time.

JUDGEMENT: Each player at a time shuffles the culture cards that were played on their opinion card and lays them face-up on the table and picks their favourite and explains why. If your card was selected, you win that opinion card and all the culture cards that were played on it. Keep the cards you win in your own scoring pile.

WINNING: Play 3 rounds. At the end of the third round, count all the cards in your scoring pile (opinion cards and culture cards). The player with the most cards wins!
